Name: Warden Colin Amell Door: Left Canon: Dragon Age Canon Point: Post-Ostagar Age: 21 Appearance: Here! History: Link! With the clarification that I am playing Colin as the youngest of the children of Revka Amell, who disappeared. Her husband took the children away from Kirkwall and was not heard from again. I am headcanoning that he took his children to a small Antivan village near where he grew up. Colin was raised as a working-class boy with strong connections to his Antivan roots. His magic manifested at the age of ten, at which time he was taken to the Circle. He also ratted out Jowan to First Enchanter Irving. Personality: Colin is mild-mannered and more prone to listening than talking. He is, however, a very active listener with a light hand at engaging people. It works well for him in diplomacy, but often abandons him whenever conversation gets personal. He loves to be around people, he longs to be more social than he is, but anxiety gets in the way. Surviving in the Circle is not easy, and he is only newly Harrowed and was prone to being bullied. His relationship with his own magic is not great. He has never known anything else, but he knows it has only brought him trouble and pain, as well as the fear that he would not measure up and would be made Tranquil. Nonetheless, he has difficulty relating to non-mages and is, as a result of his confinement, someone socially awkward. He is shy, and more to the point, deeply cynical. His experience in the Circle tells him that people do what they must to survive, even if it means screwing over other people. He does not trust anyone to have his back but himself, unless there is some manner of self-interest involved. If he is useful to others, they will protect him, and so he makes himself useful. He loves nature and beautiful or flavorful things. His life in the Circle was grey, and in nature there are millions of colors. He loves to cook, especially because so much Fereldan food is terrible, and did a lot of work in the kitchens in the Circle. He carries his own personal vial of dried garlic and chili spice everywhere he goes, sprinkling it (or piling it) on food he finds too bland. He is often ineffectual. His anxiety can manifest as anger, if triggered by a person, albeit anger he has difficulty following through on. If threatened or insulted, he will often simply seethe back at them. Survival instinct developed in the Tower shuts him down, his gaze falls away, and he petrifies. He is angrier at himself than anyone. But not angry enough to move. His sense of humor is dry, often quietly spoken as an aside rather than a performance. He is deeply empathetic but hesitant to act. He listens actively and is usually polite. He treasures his friendships dearly. He is bisexual but has never been in a romantic relationship, only fooled around a little with other apprentices. Despite his mild manner and easy, gentle smile, he is quick-witted and determined. Those who underestimate him based on his apparent fragility are bound to be surprised by his ability to adapt and endure. He survived his Circle, on his own. He has spent half his lifetime living with his anxiety issues and learning how to cope. He clawed his way out from under the abuses of Templars with his cunning, not with force. It would be easy for people to see him as some sort of amateur in over his head. He is no amateur. Powers and Abilities: Spirit, creation, and some entropy magic. He is well-versed in herbalism as well. Inventory: A small jar of spices, a pendant with the blood from his Joining, his Warden uniform. Samples: Communication Thinking |
